Be part of Masterton's judo community at Ngā Tōtara Dojo. Weekly senior sessions for adults 18+, free trials available—strengthen bonds and fitness now!

Members at Ngā Tōtara Dojo often share how the senior judo sessions build confidence and camaraderie through practical training. This activity focuses on judo techniques, helping participants develop self-defense skills alongside fitness and discipline. It's designed for adults seeking a supportive environment to train, whether for personal growth or technical improvement.
Senior Judo sessions are open to those aged 18 and over, covering groups from 18-29, 30-49, 50-64, and 65+. Each session lasts 90 minutes and emphasises effort, hard work, and commitment to reach individual goals, such as better fitness or spiritual focus. Newcomers, from complete beginners to experienced martial artists, are always welcome year-round. Your first one to two sessions are free to try, making it easy to see if judo fits your routine.
As a practical class, wear loose, comfortable clothing like a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. A belt and gi jacket can be borrowed from the changing room, so no special gear is needed to start. The dojo provides a friendly and inspiring space where participants connect over shared training, fostering community bonds in Masterton. Judo here integrates with other offerings like Aikido, Shorinji Kempo Ju Jitsu, Karate, and Eskrima, but senior sessions keep the focus on judo fundamentals.
Training promotes not just physical skills but also social connections, as members train together in a supportive setting that encourages mutual progress.
