Henkada Judo Club, established in 1958, offers a rich tradition in this Olympic sport created by Dr. Jigoro Kano in 1882. Judo serves as a sport, discipline, fitness program, art, and self-defense method, fostering physical and mental growth for participants. At Henkada, senior training sessions cater to those 14 and up, providing a structured environment to build essential skills and confidence.
Senior training runs every Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 PM, lasting 90 minutes. This session is open to ages 14 and older, including groups from 18-29, 30-49, 50-64, and 65+, making it suitable for a wide range of adults seeking to enhance their fitness. Entry fees are to be checked directly with the club, as specifics vary. No prior experience is required, though participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement; the club focuses on progressive techniques that develop strength, flexibility, agility, speed, balance, explosive power, and endurance.
Through active attack and defense drills, members improve reaction time, coordination, and physical self-confidence. Regular practice helps individuals become physically bigger, stronger, and faster. The club promotes community connection by bringing together people of various ages in a supportive setting, encouraging social bonds alongside physical development. Sessions emphasize fundamental judo techniques, contributing to overall well-being and self-defense capabilities.
Whether you're new to judo or looking to refine your abilities, these sessions provide a welcoming space for personal growth and community engagement.
